Managing Director and Chairman

Selvin Konar

Managing Director and Chairman

Selvin Konar holds the position of Managing Director and Chairman for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Selvin has 35 years of experience in the Automotive Industry having had exposure in both the OEM and Independent Aftermarket sectors. He has spent time in Marketing, Business Planning, Costing and Purchasing.

Selvin embarked on his academic journey in 1988. After successfully completing his National Diploma in Marketing and Sales, this was followed with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with the University of South Africa, and thereafter his Degree in Commerce at Honours level and ultimately achieving his Masters Degree in Business Administration through the University of KwaZulu Natal, graduating during 2013.

Selvin played a lead role in facilitating the Joint Venture between DENSO and Smiths Manufacturing and serves as Managing Director of both organisations.

Selvin’s focus is on growing and developing the Team in South Africa and together they are actively involved in forging partnerships, increasing DENSO brand awareness, and growing the DENSO footprint in South Africa as well as into Southern Africa.

Deputy Managing Director

Takashi Sakai

Deputy Managing Director

Takashi Sakai holds the position of Deputy Managing Director for DENSO Sales South Africa. As Deputy Managing Director of DENSO Sales South Africa, he is responsible for Aftermarket and Original Equipment Sales and Service across South Africa and neighboring countries.

Takashi Sakai began his career at DENSO Corporation in Japan in 2006, gaining over 15 years of diverse experience across multiple departments.
He contributed to business and product development in fleet management systems (both 24V and 12V), dash-cams for commercial vehicles, and accessories including TOYOTA Genuine Parts. He also played a key role in expanding product offerings in Asian markets such as Indonesia and Thailand.

In 2016, he was assigned to DENSO Products and Services Americas in the United States, where he spent five years advancing connected services.
His work included vehicle diagnostics, telematics services for fleet management, V2X systems for mining operations, and IoT-based device management platforms.

Upon returning to Japan in 2021, Takashi Sakai worked on global product strategy and development for thermal solutions and Service Parts under the OES and IAM domain.
He joined DENSO Sales South Africa in January 2025 to lead aftermarket and OES initiatives, bringing a wealth of international experience and product knowledge to support the region’s growth.

Daniel Venkatesan holds the position of National Sales Marketing & Service Manager for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Daniel has over 15 years of experience in the Automotive industry having experience in both the OEM and Independent Aftermarket sectors. He has experience in Engineering, Project Management, Product Development, Sales & Marketing, Business Development and Service.

He is now responsible for a team which focus on developing a competitive offering for the Southern African Aftermarket and ensuring business growth in both Sales and Service as well as positioning of DENSO products strategically to promote brand awareness to the target audiences.

Daniel’s responsible product lines are Maintenance, Diesel Fuel Injection & Rotating Electrics.

Larry Gounden holds the position of National Sales, Marketing & Business Operations Manager for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Larry has over 34 Years of experience in the automotive industry, focusing in the OES sectors as well as the IAM business. A seasoned professional in Sales and Marketing, Business development and Business Management, his strong customer relationships and business acumen are his strengths.

Larry responsibilities include growing the DENSO brand in the OES markets, Maintaining, and growing a strong thermal dealer network in South Africa and Southern Africa, supporting car makers for repairs and servicing of Air-conditioning Systems. Larry manages a dedicated team that is responsible Sales Management, Warehousing Internal and External, In bound and Out bound Logistics as well as day to day management of the business.

Wade Botha holds the position of Product development Manager for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Wade is an experienced Product Development Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the automotive industry. Skilled in the Aftermarket and Original Equipment Market, with strong Management, Project Management, Product Development and Procurement Management.

Wade is responsible for Product Life Cycle Management and Application & Development Engineering, growing and maintaining the DENSO product line up for the South African and neighboring markets; with emphasis on the Thermal, Rotating Electric and Service parts.

Loshani Moodley holds the position of Assistant Sales & Marketing Manager for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Loshani has over 14 years of experience in the Automotive industry having experience in both the OES and Independent Aftermarket sectors. She has experience in sales Administration Management, Project management, Sales and Marketing and Key account management.

She is now responsible for Sales and Marketing for the Southern African Aftermarket as well as positioning of DENSO products strategically to promote brand awareness to the target audiences.

Keshal Sookraj holds the position of Assistant Service Manager for DENSO Sales South Africa.

Keshal has 15 years of experience in the Automotive industry in both the OEM and aftermarket sectors. He has served as an Aftersales manager, master technician and service advisor, technical manager, and trainer as well as in operations management.

He is now responsible for the DENSO service dealer network for Southern Africa. By offering sound technical support and advise, he aims to grow the DENSO brand into a household name renowned for quality and reliability as well as affordability.
